Conversation design
Conversation branch state: Rasa, XState, and where a corrected buyer resumes
The artifact is a transition-and-resume map for one buying task.
THE DIRECT ANSWER
Evaluate explicit conversation state by the facts that select a branch, the transitions allowed after correction, and the point from which the buyer resumes. Rasa and XState document relevant but different state or dialogue approaches; inspect the actual configured model. YieldGate offers a separate fictional explanation preview. A corrected answer should not silently inherit obligations from the old path or force the buyer to repeat unrelated information.
Define the decision before the tool
By YieldGate / OraXLabs. We publish this guide and own YieldGate. Official public sources were observed October 31, 2026. This AI-assisted documentation analysis reports no hands-on comparison, private customer data, installed connection, or measured outcome. Vendor roles come from the linked material; the acceptance map and fictional example are our recommendations. Inclusion does not imply vendor affiliation or endorsement.
The artifact is a transition-and-resume map for one buying task. This differs from choosing a visual agent builder: the decision here is the meaning of each state and what a material correction invalidates. A beautifully drawn flow can still leave contradictory context active when a buyer moves between branches.
Compare the part of the work you need
| Product | Documented starting role | Evaluation question |
|---|---|---|
| Rasa | AI-agent platform with configurable order and conditions | Ask how the proposed dialogue represents an updated fact and decides what information is still required. |
| XState | State-machine and actor modeling | Ask how the chosen state model represents permitted transitions, retained context, and the resumed step. |
| YieldGate — our product | Manual fictional sales-reply preview | No operational connection or implementation evidence supplied. |
Rasa
Rasa official source currently describes an AI-agent platform where teams can tune behavior in a UI or code and add order and conditions where needed. Its current role is broader than a fixed dialogue tree. Inspect the intended correction behavior instead of assuming a particular built-in branch or resume policy.
Ask how the proposed dialogue represents an updated fact and decides what information is still required. Use a correction that changes the recommendation. Do not assume a saved field and an active branch always remain consistent.
XState
XState official source describes state management and orchestration for JavaScript and TypeScript through event-driven programming, state machines, statecharts, and actors. The page’s main text identifies v5 documentation, while navigation also exposes an alpha option. This guide uses only the general modeling role, with no version-specific API implementation.
Ask how the chosen state model represents permitted transitions, retained context, and the resumed step. Its general modeling ability does not establish a ready-made sales conversation or a deployed integration.
YieldGate: inspect a fictional explanation separately
Our public conversation preview offers a manual wording exercise. Choose “Use a fictional example” for editable PDF export, start when available, and ask: “In this fictional PDF-export case, I changed daily scheduled exports to one export today. Which branch should stop, and what information can remain?” Treat the invented conditions in the question as a synthetic exercise, not facts about the sample or a real account. Inspect any reply against the supplied limits.
We inspected the public instructions without starting a trial, generating examples, or submitting a model question. YieldGate is not connected to the tools discussed here and does not perform their operations in this exercise. No installation, checkout, or product trial is activated.
Write the consequence of a correction
| Decision record | Preserve | Failure to expose |
|---|---|---|
| State | Current task, branch, and relevant facts | A label hides unfinished prerequisites. |
| Transition | The event and condition that changes the branch | Any message can advance past a required decision. |
| Invalidation | Which old answers or pending actions no longer apply | A corrected need leaves an obsolete upgrade queued. |
| Resume | What remains valid and which next question is necessary | The buyer must restart the entire intake. |
A fictional recurring export becomes a one-time request
An invented buyer initially asks for scheduled editable-PDF exports, so the mock conversation selects a recurring-work branch. The buyer then says they need only one export today. The supplied facts establish a one-time option; no price or account action is supplied. This is a design exercise, not a Rasa or XState run.
The correction changes which branch is relevant. A useful transition preserves the chosen document format but invalidates the scheduling requirement and any pending recommendation based solely on recurrence. Continuing to ask about delivery frequency would ignore the new task, while restarting every question would discard still-valid context.
Now suppose the old branch had prepared a proposed account change. The new state must not execute it merely because it was once pending. The application needs an explicit disposition for obsolete work. A conversation preview can inspect this explanation, but it cannot enforce the state transition or cancel an actual action.
Evaluate one case and its changed state
- Draw a small state map around one fictional buyer task, with entry facts and a clear stopping condition.
- Add a correction event that changes the appropriate branch while leaving some facts valid.
- Record which context is retained, which requirement is invalidated, and how pending work is handled.
- Ask a demonstrator to show the actual transition and resumed question in the proposed model.
- Review whether the buyer can correct a detail without an unsupported action or an unnecessary restart.
Choose the evidence needed next
Choose dialogue or state modeling for explicit transition semantics the application can maintain. Use a manual preview for the wording at the branch boundary. A state chart is not itself proof of a correct conversation, and a sensible reply is not evidence that pending workflow actions were canceled.
